If you live near a pond or similar sized body of water, chances are you’ll notice over the years that it gets downright ugly. Since this series is primarily concerned with, as is almost all of construction, aesthetic and cosmetics, we are exploring one of Amaxx’s services: pond dredging.
What in the h*** is pond dredging?*
By removing sediment, other pollutants and regular buildup towards cleaning and maintaining the specific body of water is known as dredging. A rule of thumb signals that the larger the pond, the less it needs to be maintained, as nature has its way of course. But for those with smaller bodies of water, you are looking at a quick rate of every few years.

The Pond Goldilocks Zone
Dredging allows for control of the body of water by managing its health, depth, and unnecessary growths which could all affect the marine life and overall aesthetic quality of your pond. This is done by effective, measured maintenance. Is there a perfect time frame? Experts generally recommend by eye or by year, on average 3–5 years for a smaller pond. Hallmarks of urgent dredging are overgrown algae, little to no marine life, too shallow, or even general debris you may notice.
Koi fish? Goldfish? Any fish?
One of the numerous environmental advantages of dredging is to preserve fish and other animals and their habitats. A lack of proper care could seriously hinder survival of any fish, yes, even precious koi fish.
